FACT:John’s travel was for official city business.As a Councilmember, John was sent by his city to Rome—to meet with the Pope no less—to protect youth programs that benefit his constituents. As Mayor, John was sent by his city to Paris with other LA County elected officials to learn first-hand about security logistics during the Paris Olympics. Given the rising violence against the LGBTQ+ community, John’s participation in this trip was essential to better understand what his city could do to protect LGBTQ+ athletes during the ’28 Olympics here. FACT:Crime decreased and overall public safety increased under John’s watch. He increased the budgets for all first responders. It is an absolute lie that crime has gone up under John’s tenure. (Source: LASD.org)

FACT:John is a proven budget watchdog: He helped generate a $31 million budget surplus—even after COVID—that was invested in vital services for the LGBTQ+ community, older adults and the disabled, and renters. FACT:John is a well-respected elected official who has been honored for his public service.He is President of California Contract Cities—notably for his courageous and effective leadership. John is NOT corrupt as the attack ads claim. If anyone is breaking the law, it is the special interests behind these despicable, homophobic ads. These attacks ads not only lie about John—they use AI manipulation to distort his image and play into harmful stereotypes.
